The short version

Byte Studio does not collect your data. Not a reduced amount of it, not an anonymized version of it, none of it.

We have no servers that store anything about you, no accounts to create, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code in our apps that reports back to anybody. There is nothing for us to sell, share, lose in a breach, or hand over, because we never had it.

That is the entire policy. Everything below just explains it in more detail.

Who we are

Byte Studio LLC. We make apps and games, listed at https://bytestud.io/projects/.

This statement covers everything we publish unless a specific app says otherwise on its own page. If we ever release something that genuinely needs to collect data to work, we will publish a separate notice for it and say so plainly rather than quietly widening this one.

What we collect

Nothing.

There is no sign-up, no login to a Byte Studio account, no email list, no telemetry, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier, and no analytics SDK in any of our apps.

This is a structural fact rather than a promise about good behaviour. We do not run servers that could receive your data. Even if we changed our minds tomorrow, there is nowhere for it to go without us shipping a different app and telling you.

What each app does with your information

Broadside connects to a blog server that you run yourself. Your writing, your images and your settings live on your server, under your control, and never touch anything of ours. The app stores two things on your device: your server's address, and the access token you paste in, which is kept in the iOS Keychain. Both stay on the phone. The app makes network requests to your server and to no other address. When you add a photograph, it uses the standard iOS picker, so the only images it can see are the ones you choose to hand it.

Counting Spaces runs entirely on your device. Your progress, your scores and your settings are stored locally and go nowhere. There are no leaderboards, no cloud saves, no accounts and no network features.

Anything we release later is covered by this statement on the same terms, unless its own page says otherwise.

If you run Broadside as a server

Broadside is self-hosted software. When you run it, you are the one holding the data: your posts, your uploaded files, and the details of anybody who reads or comments on your site. We have no access to any of it and no way to reach your server.

That also means the responsibility is yours rather than ours. If you publish a blog to the public, you are the data controller for your readers under laws like the GDPR, and any obligations that follow are between you and them. We mention this not to be unhelpful but because self-hosting genuinely moves that duty to you, and it would be misleading of us to imply otherwise.

This website

https://bytestud.io sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third parties. Every file the site asks your browser for comes from bytestud.io itself, including the fonts and the styling. Your visit is not logged in any way we look at, and there is no tracking pixel, tag manager or advertising script anywhere on it.

What Apple and Google can see

Our apps are distributed through the App Store and Google Play, and those companies sit between us and you.

Apple and Google handle the download and, for paid apps, the payment. We never see your name, your email address, your card details or your billing address. They give us aggregate sales and download reports, and crash reports if you have chosen in your device settings to share those with developers. All of that arrives as numbers and stack traces with no identity attached. We cannot work out who you are from any of it, and we do not try.

What Apple and Google themselves collect is governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one. That part is genuinely outside our control, and we would rather point at it than pretend it does not exist.

Children

Our apps collect no data from anybody, which includes children. There is no account creation, no chat, no user-generated content shared with strangers, and no advertising.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell your data, share it, rent it, trade it, or transfer it to anybody, in any circumstance, for any amount of money. This is not a difficult commitment for us to keep, because we do not have any.

If Byte Studio were ever acquired or wound up, there would be no user data to pass on as part of it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to ask what data a company holds about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to it being processed.

We hold nothing about you, so there is nothing to disclose, correct or delete. You are welcome to ask, and the honest answer will be that we have no record of you at all.

Deleting our apps removes everything they stored on your device.

Security

The strongest security measure available is not holding data in the first place, and it is the one we use.

There is no Byte Studio database of users to be breached, no password of yours for us to store badly, and no backup of your information sitting on a server somewhere waiting to be misconfigured.

Changes to this statement

If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous version stays available in the site's history. If a change ever means we start collecting something, we will say so at the top in plain language rather than burying it in a paragraph.
